Cultural Association Demonios Rafolins
Demons Rafolins we are a group of people of the Alquería and surroundings, lovers of the fire and of the traditions.
In 1990, just a year after creating the group of dolcaina and tabal el marell, a group of friends and lovers of fire decided to form a group of devils to enjoy the fire and to foment the tradition of correfocs throughout the Valencian Country. In September of that same year, coinciding with the patron saint festivities Los Demonios Rafolins premiered as correfocs.
A few months later, in August of 1991 we went to make the first correfocs outside of our town, Beniarres. A village where we have always been at home and where we have made some of the best correfocs, both for the place where it is performed to show as for the involvement of the people.
In 1992 it was our debut in many villages and confirmation as a group, acting in towns like Benimarfull, Beniarrés, La Nucia, Altea la Vella, Alfaz del Pi, Altea, Benirredrà and La Alqueria.
Highlights include the one held in 2003 in Santa Maria da Feira (Portugal) to close the Festival imaginarius de Teatro in the street. It was an experience for the group to be able to close an international festival in Spain.
Also noteworthy are the opening of the Eliana festivities, the closing of the All Saints’ Fair in Cocentaina, the night of the Alquería fire and the closings of the Valencian meetings in various locations.
The group has always had a variety of wheels and beasts, such as tadpoles, dragons and what today is our masterpiece, the Maxupisaurios, a fire dinosaur from which San Roro invokes the demons.
So far there have been many towns where we have acted and enjoyed with people: Alcocer, Ontinyent, Cocentaina, Muro, Beniarantell, Beniarbeig, Castalla, Villena, San Juan, Benilloba, Balones, Tollos, Alcoleja, Quatretondeta, Ares del Bosco, Benasau , Millena, Benimarfull, La Nucía, Altea, Beniariarres, Beniarbeig, Ràfol of Salem, Alcoy, Benirredrà, Lorcha, Alfafara, Eliana …. and some people more than sure that we leave.
Apart from the correfocs, the Rafolins demons have also acted in the rumors of festivals of Moors and Christians, we have made different pyromusical shows like the one realized in 2008 to the Alquería with the work of dolcaina and tabal the Akelarre. We have also participated in the Artendavant show “Tear of Fire” at the All Saints Fair 2009 and the presentation of the album “Dreams” by Romu Agullo in Cocentaina.
Los Demonios Rafolins is currently made up of 35 friends, not only from Alquería, but also from nearby towns like Benimarfull, Alcocer, Muro and Beniarres. Damn Rafolins we are proud of what we are and we want to continue this adventure with you. Health, culture, tradition and fire !!!
